Dollar Store was robbed and suspect arrested
Roller was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery (1st degree felony) and transported to the Gregg County Jail.
On March 28, 2010 at around 9:25 a.m., Longview Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General store at 1501 South High Street for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
Store employees told officers that a subject entered the store and demanded money from the cash register, stating that he had a weapon in his pocket. Fearful of the suspect’s threats, the store clerk complied and gave the suspect the money from the register. The suspect then ran from the store on foot.
Employees described the suspect as a white male, 50-60 years old, 5’03”-5’05” tall and 180-190 pounds wearing a green button up shirt, blue jeans, black and red athletic shoes and glasses with tape around the middle.
At around 4:56 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the intersection of South High Street and Garfield for a sighting of the robbery suspect. The manager of a nearby grocery store, who was aware of the Dollar General robbery, spotted a man meeting the description of the robbery suspect and called police. Officers located the man in the 600 block of West Garfield Street and he was identified as Danny Jay Roller.
Roller was questioned by Longview Police Detectives and positively identified by witnesses as the Dollar General robbery suspect. Roller was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery (1st degree felony) and transported to the Gregg County Jail.
