AlleyFest celebrates 32 years of festival fun

AlleyFest celebrates 32 years of festival fun in downtown Longview on June 4 – 6, 2010. AlleyFest is a Real East Texas Celebration of the Arts taking place on the streets of Downtown Longview’s historic Main Street district.

Alley Art, the event that started AlleyFest, will open Friday night at 6:30 pm offering a wide range of

original work, quality hand made crafts, and new fine artists with some exceptional work. Artisans from across the United States will showcase pottery, paintings, drawings, sculpture and much more.

Music Fest brings great entertainment to Longview on Friday and Saturday evening. Friday when the gates open, Richard Stuart and One Night Stand, followed by Curtis Grimes who will perform at 8:00 pm and at 10:00 pm, Little Texas, America’s Favorite Rockin’ Country Band. Little Texas Longview natives Duane Propes and Porter Howell talk about the newest studio album. “The title track of our newest studio album is a song called "Missing Years." Just being in Longview always recharges our batteries, so we have a feeling this will be one of our best shows in years.”

Saturday AlleyFest proudly welcomes headliner Blue Oyster Cult at 10:00 pm. For nearly three decades, Blue Oyster Cult has been thrilling hard rock fans worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs such as “Don’t Fear the Reaper”, “Godzilla”, and “Burnin’ for You”. Taking the stage to perform before Blue Oyster Cult will be Teazur at 6:00 pm and Not Exactly Dylan at 8:00 pm.

This year the annual Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo, held in Austin for the past 17 years, is taking the show on the road and will be at AlleyFest Saturday and Sunday! Texas Parks and Wildlife is partnering with AlleyFest to present the Life's Better Outside® Experience. Life's Better Outside® Experience provides hands – on activities for families, youth and children to introduce them to activities which can lead to conservation of our natural and cultural resources.

Kids Fest is open on Saturday and Sunday with FREE activities for children of all ages including a Performance Stage where talent is abundant with a variety of music and a day of karaoke Sunday. Kids Fest activities will center on creative hands-on projects in keeping with the festivals focus on celebrating the arts in East Texas.

Alley Run features a great course, medals, prizes, and T shirts. Alley Run 10k and 5k routes begin at Heritage Plaza at the corner of Green and Methvin Street in Downtown Longview and wind through the downtown area and the historic Nugget Hill neighborhood. Race Day registration and packet pick up will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at race headquarters in Heritage Plaza in downtown Longview. Start time for the 10k and 5k is 7:00 a.m. Parking is available at the parking lots on Cotton Street at the intersection of Cotton and Center and Cotton and Fredonia. The One Mile Run will begin at 8:30 a.m.
