The Color Purple added to UT Tyler’s playbill in February
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. November 29.
TYLER Due to popular demand, The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center is excited to announce the addition of a second performance of The Color Purple for the 2010-11 AT&T Broadway Series, Susan Thomae-Morphew, executive director, announced.
The second performance date will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 4.
Ticket prices are the same for both performances: $66, $61, $51, $46, $41, and $26. Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. November 29 and can be purchased at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office, 903.566.7424, or online at www.cowancenter.org. Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Group orders of 20 or more per performance can be placed prior to the on-sale date.
“We worked with producers to add this second performance as a result of the outstanding response to the original performance during our season subscription drive. We want to make sure that we have plenty of tickets available when public sales begin later this month,” said Thomae-Morphew. “We anticipate selling a second performance quickly since it has never toured to Tyler.”
The Broadway musical is sponsored by Jenny King. Media sponsors are East Texas Radio Group, KLTV, and Lamar Advertising.
The soul-stirring musical is based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the moving film by Steven Spielberg. It’s the story of a woman named Celie who finds her unique voice in the world.
Nominated for 11 Tony Awards, The Color Purple is a celebration of love that features jazz, gospel, and blues. It captures the hearts of young and old and unites audiences.
