We Lost a Treasure in our Jewel Box
Joseph’s, besides serving great food, was a place for friendship and family.
JEFFERSON My wife refers to Jefferson as the “Jewel Box of East Texas’ and its true when you think of all of Jefferson’s assets. From all the historic homes and buildings, to the eclectic shops, the museums, the restaurants, the steam train, the powder magazine, the bayou and the rich history, Jefferson truly is a jewel box.
In the early hours of Sunday, January 15th, Joseph’s Riverport BBQ was destroyed by fire. Riverport BBQ was not only a great place to eat; it was also a community gathering places.
Since Jefferson, Texas is a place where the South meets West its only appropriate that Joseph’s Riverport BBQ offered top shelf pulled pork bbq and beef brisket. There are not many BBQ joints, and believe me I’ve tried ‘em, that can produce quality pork and quality beef bbq.
Joseph’s, besides serving great food, was a place for friendship and family. The space inside the brick walls was filled with laughter and friendly greetings. Just last Wednesday night volunteers were in and out taking dinner breaks from setting up the stage and tables for Girlfriend Weekend.
Joseph’s is planning to open a temporary location by the triangle car wash, while they rebuild. We look forward to getting together with family & friends and enjoying the best BBQ in the state of Texas.
