City of Longview Hosts Career Fair on June 13

The event will showcase various careers available with the City of Longview from police officers to firefighters to public works.

The City of Longview will host a Career Fair from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, 100 Grand Blvd. The event will showcase various careers available with the City of Longview from police officers to firefighters to public works. City departments will have information about current job openings as well as information about all other positions within the City government. In addition, vehicles and equipment will be on display.

According to Human Resources Director Karri Hyko, “Our goal with this career fair is to share information about the diverse career opportunities with the City of Longview. We want to do more than just promote the particular jobs that are currently available; we want to showcase what types of jobs are possible for public sector careers. We want people to learn what it takes to become a police officer, firefighter, or health inspector, including what education and training is required to qualify for those positions.”

The event is geared towards current job seekers as well as students considering future employment. “With the vehicles and equipment on display at the career fair, attendees will be able to get a better feel for the job than just reading a job description,” says Hyko. “Plus, we will have employees from each department on hand to discuss how they serve the City of Longview in their job.”

The event is open to the public. For more information, please contact the Human Resources Department at 903-237-1220 or visit LongviewTexas.gov.
