Marshall’s Ed Hoffman takes his bathtub to ROT

Many have compared the ROT Rally to where Sturgis meets Woodstock.

— ROT starts in less than 24 hours and Ed Hoffman will be there with his record setting bathtub. In 2010 Mr. Hoffman set the world speed record for a bathtub in Marshall. This year he will be taking his victory lap at ROT in Austin.

The Republic of Texas Biker Rally (ROT) had its beginnings in 1994 when the rally committee selected the Travis County Expo Center as its home. The facility is 130 acres surrounded by over 250 acres of park land adjacent to Decker Lake. The first ROT Rally was held in 1995 and it has steadily grown over the years to become the largest "Turnstile Rally" in America and the fourth or fifth largest motorcycle rally of any kind in the USA. "We recognize the phenomenal growth is due to the remarkable support we receive from all those who attend and support from our vendors and sponsors."

Many have compared the ROT Rally to where Sturgis meets Woodstock or a blend of the best of Sturgis and Daytona where we have the great hill country riding and a party atmosphere.

This year ROT has changed the rules and it will no longer permit four-wheelers.

Mr. Hoffman was concerned about taking his bathtub to the event so he checked with event organizers and they assured him that his bathtub will be welcomed at ROT 2012.

With all the four-wheelers off the road the Hoffman’s bathtub is sure to get lot of attention. Hoffman and his bathtub are sure to put Marshall on the map.

Many have asked the question – “’Is there life after being a Marshall city commissioner?”

The answer is – “’Damn right – if you have a bathtub!”
