Marshall art group announces competition and fundraiser

The competition will be limited to the first 50 artists to complete the application process.

— The Marshall Regional Arts Council has announced the details of their 2012 Membership Art Competition. The annual event is a chance for local artists to show and sell their work as well as compete for monetary awards.

The contest is also the primary membership recruitment and fund raising effort of the MRAC for the year.

All entries are eligible to win the $1000 Grand Prize that will be awarded on September 11.

Due to limitations on exhibition space, the competition will be limited to the first 50 completed entry forms with art piece and $25 entry fee delivered to the Marshall Visual Art Center by May 31.

A reception for the public and the artists will be held at Marshall Visual Art Center, Thursday, May 31, 5-7 p.m.

Art entered in the competition will be exhibited at the Marshall Visual Art Center from May 31 through September 11.

Artist must be over the age of 18 and a resident of the Marshall Regional Arts Council's tri-county region which includes Harrison, Marion and Panola counties. Additionally, the competition is open to all current, dues-paid members of the Marshall Art League.

For additional information call the Visual Arts Center at 903-938-9860.
