Battle of Port Jefferson Schedule of Events


Action include Pilgrimage Parade and mock battles.

The Marion County Chamber Commerce has released the schedule of events for the Battle of Port Jefferson portion of the 65th Annual Pilgrimage Tour of Homes & Spring Festival.

LIVING HISTORY

Date: Friday, May 4, 2012 Time: 9:00 a.m.-300 p.m.Location: Tuscumbia Ranch (Hwy 134 - 3 miles. Across from the Cypress River Airport)Cost: $2 per person

AN "ILLUMINATION" AT OAKWOOD CEMETERY

Date: Friday, May 4, 2012 Time: 7:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Location: Oakwood Cemetery Cost: $5 (Listening device for biographical information of soldiers buried at Oakwood Cemetery)

PILGRIMAGE PARADE

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Time: 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Parade Route: Market/Austin/Polk/Broadway Street

SKIRMISH

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Time: 11:00 a.m. or immediately following parade Location: Austin & Vale Street

LADIES TEA

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Time: 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Location: Steamboat Inn, 114 N. Marshall Street * Period clothing required.

1ST BATTLE

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Time: 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Location: Tuscumbia Ranch (Hwy 134 - 3 miles. Across from the Cypress River Airport) Cost: $5 Adults $3 children 12 & under * Re-enactors & civilians must show identification for participation

DINNER

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Location: 1st Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Line & Jefferson St. * Re-enactors & civilians must show identification for participation

CIVIL WAR BALL

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2012 Time: 8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. Location: Jeffersonian Institute, 120 E. Austin * Period dress or black tie required Cost: Registered re-enactors - no charge. General public admission - $12 per person Entertainment: "12th Louisiana String Band"

PRESENTATION OF COLORS

Date: Sunday, May 6, 2012 Time: 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Location: Christ Episcopal Church, 703 S. Main Street Cost: Free

* A true re-enactment of an event which occurred in 1845 at same location. Hear moving letter written and read aloud to local soldiers as they march to the War Between the States

2ND BATTLE

Date: Sunday, May 6, 2012 Time: 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Location: Tuscumbia Ranch ((Hwy 134 - 3 miles. Across from the Cypress River Airport) Cost: $5 Adults $3 children 12 & under
