Cast announced for Jefferson theater production

Cast in the lead roles of Sky Masterson and Sarah Brown are John Meyers and Rachel Clifton.

— A partial list of casting has been released by the Opera House Theatre Players, Jefferson's community theater, for the upcoming summer musical-comedy "Guys and Dolls, Jr". The production is set for July 4-5-6-7 during the city's annual Fourth of July celebration.

Cast in the lead roles of Sky Masterson and Sarah Brown are John Meyers and Rachel Clifton. Meyers is a long-time actor/singer with the thespian group and starred in last years production of "The Sound of Music". Ms. Clifton is a newcomer to the area and is taking her first role with any group in this part of Texas. She is an experienced actress/singer and had many roles in college as well as high school and is looking forward to beginning her first venture into stage performance in several years.

In the second leads is a well-known husband and wife team, Paul and Stacy Davis. They will play the stage roles of Nathan Detroit and Adelaide, a couple that has been "engaged" for fourteen years. With several songs to sing, the real-life married couple plan to work on their music while on an anniversary cruise before the show opens. They last appeared with the Players during last year's theater-sponsored fund-raiser for the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, the Umbrella Parade and Dinner event, where they and their family entertained during the dinner.

Also in the cast are: Tyler Smith as Nicely-Nicely Johnson. He previously played Percival in the Players production of "The Boy Friend"; and Patrick Fortune as Benny Southstreet. Patrick was last seen in the Players "Bye,Bye, Birdie!" several years ago. Others auditioning and taking small roles are Percy Hall, Payton Pierce, Christy Barnes, Lisa Cochran, Linzy Callaway, Cristiana McMullen, Chase Long, Kathy Jackson, Lou Castleman, Sherry Elder, Doug Elder, and Dian Beaird.

Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, May 27 at 4 p.m. in the Russell Building with a complete read-through of the script and listen to the music. The following week will be spent in blocking all scenes at an hour to be determined at the Sunday meeting.

For information on being in the show or working in any technical field such as costuming, building, or lighting, call the director Marcia Thomas at 903-665-2310 as soon as possible.
