Tyler Main Steet announces Festival on the Square bands
Concerts will feature well-known and popular local performers as well as some new talent.
TYLER Beverly Abell, department leader for the City of Tyler Main Street Department has announced the 25th Annual Festival on the Square concert line-up.
The concerts will feature up-and-comers along with well-known and popular performers on Saturday, Oct. 13 in downtown Tyler.
The full line-up was announced by Festival officials Wednesday. Whiskey Myers, Charlie Robison, Jon Wolfe and The Bigsbys will perform at the concert, which will take place on downtown’s brick streets, on and near the T.B. Butler Plaza.
“We are so proud and pleased to announce this year’s line-up,” said Abel. “The concert serves as the year’s biggest fundraiser for our department, which has the very important mission of downtown revitalization.
“Just as importantly, this concert brings upwards of 3,000 people downtown to enjoy another angle of the performing arts in the historic heart of our community,” Abell said.
The 2012 edition of the concert will not only feature live music, but food and a new “Trick My Truck” show and competition. Details on that project will be announced soon.
“Our volunteers have already been working on this event for months,” Abell said. “We absolutely could not do this project without them. We have a steering committee of dedicated, talented people who contribute hundreds of hours of their time to this effort, and soon we’ll be asking even more people to donate a few hours of their time on the day of the festival to help us keep it running smoothly.”
More details on the event will be announced as the concert date draws near. Food vendor applications are available on the Festival website.
