— A one artist exhibit of Jan Statman’s paintings is on view at the American State Bank, 12300 State Hwy. 64 E. in Tyler. The paintings may be seen for two months from August 7 through Sept. 29 with a Meet and Greet reception Saturday evening, Sept. 29.

Jan Statman is an award-winning artist whose paintings are owned by public and private collections across the USA and in Europe, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Alto Aragon en Huesca, Spain, Civic Museum of Contemporary Art, Sasso Ferrato, Italy. Her painting Between Somewhere and the Other Hills was purchased by the Junior League of Longview to be part of the permanent collection of the Longview Museum of Fine Arts and is currently on view at the Maude Cobb Center.

A native of New York City, Statman is a graduate of Hunter College of the City of New York where she studied with such Twentieth Century American Masters as Robert Motherwell, William Baziotes and Richard Lippold as well as with her father, Saul Berliner. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the Arts, Who’s Who in America, Dictionary of International Biography, and numerous other biographical references. She writes the Artist’s World column for Piney Woods Live magazine.
