Description
The Tyler Museum of Art exists as an educational and cultural center to enrich the lives of East Texas citizens and visitors through the collection, preservation, study, exhibition, interpretation, and celebration of the visual arts. Accreditation is a widely recognized seal of approval; it is the recognition of a museum's commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards, and continued institutional development. The Tyler Museum of Art joins the ranks of some 342 art museums in the nation accredited by the AAM. There are currently 771 accredited museums in the country, including not only art museums but also various types of cultural and educational organizations such as aquariums, zoos, botanical gardens, science centers, history museums and historic sites.
