Gallery Main Street Opens New ‘Fiber Arts’ Exhibit Saturday
Fiber artists From Terrell to Houston, great! Looking forward to this Saturday's art gallery show. The downtown Tyler art shows are really fun.

Read the fine print for medication interaction with all prescription drugs
I discovered that Atrovent and Spiriva can make your voice so hoarse, it will fade away! A respiratory therapist gave me this tip, so I quit both. On another note, Spiriva and Advair can be used together; reading as well as experience back this up.

Read the fine print for medication interaction with all prescription drugs
I discovered that Atrovent and Spiriva can make your voice so hoarse, it will fade away. A respiratory therapist told me this fact, so I quit taking both drugs to play it safe. Atrovent is som'n for the neubulizer like albuterol . On another note, Advair and Spiriva can be used together--once agin, experience and this time reading proves this contention.Sincerely, JD Meyer "bohemiotx"

Dr. Robert Sterken Leads Discussion about the State of the World's Oceans
Wow. Way to go, Serena. We just met at the lecture. I'm the guy with the can of sardines. I'm gathering links for a Physical Health link page from where I've written at KLTV and here, roughly a dozen. I took notes and plan on writing about Dr Sterken's talk too. Here's my article about Price's talk on Mexico http://northeasttyler.kltv.com/news/a...

Go to this article, scroll down, http://hubpages.com/hub/Digital-Footp... and you'll see that this article traveled to Austin, home of the IE program, then on to the University of Toronto.

Prison Entrepreneurship Program changes lives of felons — and executive volunteers
I really enjoyed reading about this program. Entrepreneurship is som'n the Industry Growth Initiative of Tyler wants to see more often too. Once upon a time, I wrote an annotated link page called, "Jobs for Ex-Cons." It's at the Economic Development section of my website, Northeast Texas Virtual Library--http://jdmeyer.pageout.net I recall that Geographic information Systems was open to folks with records as was the green industry.

Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler debates with Anderson Cooper
Leo Berman made a fool of East Texas with such remarks. Fortunately, we have documents such as the Industry Growth Initiative in Tyler that bring pride and intelligence to the region. Check out the IGI at the City of Tyler website next time you hear drivel from an apparent lost cousin of Madagascar prosimians.

Woops, the taqueria within Chevron's has closed! The owners went back to Mexico, but the gas station lives on.

By the way, I did industrial labor back in the mid-late 90's while I was an adjunct instructor in the Dallas Community College District--in case you're wondering.

Tips to beat the East Texas heat
Woops, i forgot to note that you should wear light-colored bandannas when it's sunny and hot. Dark bandannas are good when it's cool, and you're trying to absorb some sunlight, or at night when it doesn't matter.

Will Texas move towards online textbooks?
Good news--Connexions is attracting more pre-college writers, including an entire school district in South Africa, K--12! In related news, Scientific Commons of Switzerland picked up two of my modules from Connexions. Normally, they stick with info in German--their nat'l language...................................Small world.

Tyler Schools ratings improve
For more improvement in vocabulary, go to the website of Robert Marzano. Marzano and Pickering's vocab teaching methods were adopted by the Tennessee Dept. of Education on their way to winning the first round of the national stimulus grants for education--Race to the Top. In a nutshell, give an informal definition of an academic term first, and let the kids draw som'n about it. Deal with formal definitions last and let the kids have a special notebook for academic vocab. I'd like to add that there are more cognates between Spanish and English in technical and formal language than informal---hmmmm.

Tyler ISD not meeting standards in math and reading
I hoped when we elected a cool, ex-prof for a president that the anti-intellectual spirit, so common among young people today, would subside. No. Let's see if the increased emphasis on technology helps TISD this year.

Until a faculty-staff member at UT-Tyler endorses this project, IE won't happen in Tyler. Dr. Richard Cherwitz personally emailed his interest after receiving a yahoo alert about this article. A couple of noted city leaders are interested. I've been hollering about IE in public since Kwanzaa 09!

Restaurant Review: Karina’s El Salvador Restaurant: Tyler’s Salvadorian Style Restaurant—a Taqueria
Footnote: The difference between Salvadorian and Mexican Horchata. Mexican horchata is simply rice, water, sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Jose, the owner of Karina, showed us his Salvadorian horchata mix. The ingredients are Morro seed, rice, pumpkin seed, peanuts, cinnamon, sugar with vitamin A and vanilla, and water.

Check out Connexions of Rice University http://cnx.org/ and their modular approach. Be sure to read my two modules: Subject-Verb Agreement and Applying Psychological Type Theory to Writing (with annotated link page). They have writers from all over the world and in different languages. Most of the education is college level.
